Arriving in Canada
Hi all,
I am so sorry for not being in touch all this time. I am sure you understand how hectic things were in the past few weeks!
We are doing GREAT :) here's a summary:
VANCOUVER:
We arrived in Vancouver on Aug 15. Landing was very simple and easy. It did not take more than 10 minutes to complete the whole process! Landing in Canada was much simpler than entering the US with a visa! A few things went wrong though: Of course, they had to leave ourLuggage in Seattle, and we experienced some technical malfunction in the gear on the airplane, so instead of being in Vancouver in 30 minutes, it took us 1 hour and 15 minutes!
We stayed in a cute little bed and breakfast (B&B) in a lovely area, 20 minutes to downtown. They served yummy breakfast every morning; a great incentive to get me out of bed at 8 max every morning!
Vancouver city is really really beautiful. we loved it. but the problem is that it is very small, and therefore, it is very hard to find jobs there. It is the best place, however, for starting a small business of our own. We experienced some rainfall at the end of our stay. just an indication of what it is like there in the winter. actually, pretty much all year round!
TORONTO:We arrived by plane on Aug 25. We are still here :) We are staying at a B&B 15 minutes from downtown. Our room is weird: it has an ensuite toilette, sink and bathtub. The toilette is separated by an accordion door, but the tub and the sink are just inside the room!!!!! Oh, and there is no shower. so we use a plastic bowl to shower!!!!! Toronto is nice too (but Vancouver is nicer). Downtown is all about high-rise office buildings, with quite a few residential condominiums.
It is a vibrant city, and work seems to be abundant here. It is the financial capital of Canada! The day after we arrived, we did our laundry in a near-by public coin-laundry facility. it was a really nice experience. We felt like we are living inside "Friends" :)
We went to the movies to watch Hero. WOW!!! Such a wonderful movie. Do not miss it!
We also attended the musical Mama Mia, a musical production composed around ABBA's songs. It was really really really nice :)
I guess that is all for now! We are leaving to Montreal on Tuesday. I personally am really excited :):)
